The Elevation of Muhammad Above All Prophets

When Imitating a Man Becomes Mandatory — No Matter the Morality

Islam claims to revere many prophets — Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus — but in practice, one man stands above all:

Muhammad — not just a prophet, but the model of perfection, the “seal of the prophets,” and the man Muslims are commanded to imitate in all things.

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have a beautiful example to follow...”
Qur’an 33:21 (w)

But here’s the problem: Muhammad’s example is not universally moral — not by any modern ethical standard.
And yet Islam teaches that his every word, action, and decision is ideal.

This elevation creates a massive contradiction:

How can the “perfect man” engage in behavior we would condemn today — and still be above criticism?

๐Ÿ“œ Islam Makes Muhammad the Ultimate Standard

Islam doesn’t just revere Muhammad — it sacralizes him:

  • Every prayer must include blessings on Muhammad

  • Obedience to Muhammad is equated with obedience to GodQur’an 4:80

  • His habits, speech, and lifestyle are enshrined in Hadith as binding examples

The result? Muhammad becomes the unchallengeable ideal — no matter what he did.

⚠️ But What Did Muhammad Actually Do?

๐Ÿ‘ถ Married a Child

  • Aisha was 6 at marriage, 9 at consummationSahih al-Bukhari 5133 (w)

  • This is not debated in Islamic sources — it’s upheld.

Today, this would be called child exploitation.
In Islam, it’s part of the prophetic model.

⚔️ Waged Offensive Wars

  • Muhammad led or ordered dozens of raids and battles.

  • Not just in self-defense — many were preemptive or punitive.

  • Conquered Mecca by force; expanded influence through tribal submission.

His legacy inspired the militarized expansion of Islam across empires — by divine license.

๐Ÿค Kept and Traded Slaves

  • Muhammad owned slaves, including women taken as war captives.

  • He distributed slaves among followers after battles — e.g., Khaybar.

  • He never abolished slavery — he regulated it.

This is not moral leadership — it’s legitimization of human ownership.

๐Ÿ’ Took Multiple Wives — and Special Privileges

  • Married at least 11 women, more than the Qur’anic limit of 4.

  • Qur’an 33:50 gives Muhammad exclusive rights denied to other men.

  • Married the divorced wife of his adopted son (Zayd) — Qur’an 33:37

If any other religious founder did this, it would be called self-serving.
For Muhammad, it’s declared divine exception.

๐Ÿ›ก️ Shielded from Criticism — Even by Law

Because Muhammad is the “perfect man,” criticism of him is forbidden:

  • Blasphemy laws in many Muslim-majority countries carry the death penalty for insulting Muhammad

  • Even asking critical questions can lead to accusations of apostasy

This is not reverence. This is compulsory veneration enforced by fear.

๐Ÿงผ Apologist Excuses, Debunked

“He was a man of his time.”
→ Then stop calling him the timeless moral example for all humanity.

“His actions were guided by God’s wisdom.”
→ That’s blind belief, not moral reasoning.

“You’re judging him by modern standards.”
→ Then stop insisting he is relevant to modern standards.

๐ŸŽฏ Final Word

You can’t claim moral perfection — and excuse moral failure at the same time.

If Muhammad’s example is above reproach:

  • Then child marriage, slaveholding, and military aggression are above reproach.

  • And Islam binds itself to a moral ceiling set in the 7th century.

By elevating Muhammad above critique, Islam makes a dangerous move:

It declares that even morally questionable actions become holy — simply because Muhammad did them.

That’s not ethical leadership.
That’s cult-like absolutism in prophetic form.
